Best way to paint over red kitchen cabinets?

My kitchen cabinet doors are red. Not my first choice!! We will be totally gutting the kitchen in a few years. What is the quickest way for me to get rid of this red?? I have lots of painting to do and this will all go in a dumpster at some point so I'm not looking for the most perfect, professional job. Just not red!!

clean them well and slap some paint on, done

I've linked to the first of three long threads about painting over red cabinets from the Home Decorating forum.

She pretty much did what Christophern suggests. She used Ben Moore Advance.

I only said that because it was posted that the kitchen will be gutted, so who cares?

It's not really hard to paint over red. Using red as a topcoat is what can be hard (poor coverage). Just don't paint them white.
