I also need advice on what to do with the wall above the sink.

We also have this wall. It is like the previous wall and doesn't have any texture on the wall. My husband forgot to get the texture people out before the cabinets were installed. Should we texture it now?

If you don't hate them in the kitchen as I do, you can have curtain/drapes for the wall above the sink window. For the side wall some decoration, maybe wall plates might look good.

Sena, I do have some antique bowls I could use. Maybe plates would be better though. I am sure I could find something that would work. Thanks for your suggestion.

There are modification drop lights for the ones over your sink. Many options and not expensive. Which i have done and really like the look. Yes to texturing the rest of the walls if there are other areas as large. You are going to need to paint as it is, so taping the cabinets will be needed. Texture isn't difficult, although I don't know what your's looks like.
