I personally think that if you are fine with how marble ages, you should do marble. Nothing compares. I'm planning Carrara perimeter and possibly wood top island. Sounds like we're after the same look.

As far as your granite, I don't like the pinky one. Kashmir can be nice. Colonial cream is usually too gold for me. But your slabs could be different. Which one appeals to YOU better? That's what counts! ;)

I am doing carrara on my perimeter and in my bath. When I was at the stone yard, I told the sales person that I wanted that same sort of look my my dd's vanity and the guest room's vanity...but that I didn't want carrara in there because I knew it would end up an etched, stained, hot mess because dd is only 8 and as she gets older, the make-up and such on the marble would give me hives. She said that the Kashmir would be the closest, colorwise, of the moderate priced granites (of course white quarzite would be better, but so much more $.) So, that is what I am doing for those baths. I have my sample pieces of both...and I will be honest with you...the kashmir white really looks nothing like the marble. Not even close. It is pretty, but definitely not the same look.

I'll second the white quartzite. Firsthouse_mp and I have White Princess/White Pearl which is usually labelled granite but is actually a quartzite.

Sochi (and a few others) have Luna di Luca. Both of these stones evoke marble but are bulletproof like granite.

I also looked at white river granite while I was looking and it's a nice option to add to your list.

When I was looking for a "looks like marble" granite, my first choice was honed kashmir white (the honing makes it feel a lot softer, like honed marble in that way.) BUT- when I found out honed carrara was the same cost, or less, I went with the real marble. If you're fine with the etching and patina, and its what your heart really desires, maybe you should get the marble?
