***THIS IS PART 2 OF MY REVEAL THREAD IN CASE THERE ARE OTHER QUESTIONS AND IT HAS ONLY BEEN A COUPLE OF DAYS SINCE THE REVEAL... Also, I can add pics of the banquette when it is done : )
HERE IS PART 1 if you want to read other comments/questions answered:
http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg0209074917427.html?19038

OK, here is my finished yellow kitchen thread! Can't believe it is here!
I can't thank ALL of you enough (or at least those who shared in my vision!) for all the help. Like most of us I really spent so much time on every decision. I joke that nothing happened by accident.
There are so many of you that contributed your thoughts and ideas but I want to especially thank lavender_lass and marcolo for all of their wise words and helping me find and stay true to my vision.
I found the hardest part of renovating is not going off track every time you have to make a decision and not letting others sway you to do things you really don't want to do!

BEFORE: This project included pushing out the entire back of our 1950 Cape 7 feet. Also, removing about 5' of our living room wall which involved moving the basement steps over. Removing a wall between the dining room and kitchen, adding a covered porch. We also did all new siding and other exterior things but I'll stick to inside.

Kitchen was originally a galley measuring about 19' x 9 1/2'. Dining Room was about 8 1/2' wide. Now it's really one large room 28' x 16 1/2'. Kitchen side alone is 16' x 16 1/2'

Choosing reveal photos was worse than narrowing down pics for our Wedding Album! SO sorry in advance for the quantity! Hopefully you'll never have to ask me for more pics : )

I also love the 3 lights on the top so it's less busy and easier to clean!

Love everything about it!
I'm intrigued by your sliding doors. How did you come up with this design? Do you have more information about it?

RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Fishes- tell us about your key hooks. They look substantial. Are they mounted on the underside of the shelf or in the back? Any close up photos?

Wow! Beautiful and wonderful idea's - seems like you addressed so many things.

RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Does the Miele Speed Oven function as your microwave?

If yes how do you like that?

What are you going to do for coffee making?

My fave pic is of the yellow flower against the grey and white snow.

Congratulations.

RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Brava!
What a complete transformation! You've achieved that rare thing: a beautifully designed, cohesive space as functional as it is beautiful.
Our kitchen renovation happened a couple of years ago, but we've been lurking again as we plan our master bedroom renovation. We were going to separate our small ensuite and closet area from the rest of the room with pocket doors, but, like you, we don't want to sacrifice the light and feeling of spaciousness. I'd been considering a glass panelled wall with bypass doors, when I saw your beautiful glass wall.
Like Nosoccermom wrote above, I would love to hear more about the design of sliding glass doors. You've written that they are custom, but are you able to provide any details of the hardware, glass thickness etc.? I would appreciate any information you could provide.
Once again, congratulations on realizing your vision so beautifully.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Fishies, your kitchen is amazing - your house is beautiful! I'm not a huge yellow fan, but I would take your kitchen in a heartbeat! I love it with the light blue of your living room (which I also have). The top glass cabinet - it really jumped out to me that you have glass on the side too instead of just on the front. Nice touch! LOVE your marble! There's just nothing not to love. It's absolutely beautiful! Oh, and just love your deep red doors too!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

The doors really came from a lot of thought on how to keep the open look without adding wall pockets for pocket doors which would make it look more closed off. At first the issue was that we were trying to keep the bar built-in behind a wall but then there was't enough room for four door panels.. But then I thought-- why are we trying to do that? Let's just put a stationary glass door there and it will be fine. So, the cab maker had to shrink the bar about 2 inches and put a finished end on it being it now was not going to be up against a wall. Our doors our 34" each. That's what the space would allow. The GC purchased Johnson bypass hardware, put up the four doors making the two outside one non-working, and they built the trim above the doors to block the track. I didn't want a track in the floor like most I've seen so they built a track using trim and when the doors are closed they are still inside that track so they don't move. Also we decided to paint the wood floor in Mascarpone (like the doors/trim) so that when opened the wood floor didn't stick out between the white. Here was the in between photo while we were deciding.

IMG_1836 photo file_zps8af475e7.jpg

OH, I also wanted to make sure the doors/lights were lined up perfectly when open so they worked on that and put the little bumpers on the stationary panels as well so they would be equal.

Our floor/ceiling is really "off" in the center of the house so these doors were a bit of a challenge as the floor sinks down quite a bit from one side to the other. They worked it out though.

Here are more photos now that the doors are finished...

DSC00875 photo file_zps4001efe7.jpg

DSC00876 photo file_zpsbaf93655.jpg

I couldn't find any 3 light doors that I liked. The ones I saw had a big rail under the lights that was too chunky and the top 3 light were too long. I wanted the doors to look like a regular 15 light door minus the bottom 4 rows- if that makes any sense. It was a scale issue... So, we had to have them custom made which was more expensive.

The key hooks are just a chrome piece I bought from amazon and the cab guys screwed them in. The cabinet is lined with cork so we can pin notes/business cards or whatever in there...

RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Mare Luce- Yes, we use the speed oven for microwaving and works great! Now and then I want to microwave while something is baking but I either wait or switch dishes/modes for a minute and then continue baking. The issue I have to think about with that is dishes b/c you can't put plastic or certain pieces you want to microwave in into a 400 degree oven.

We don't drink coffee so no pot in the kitchen. We have one in the basement that we take out when we have company : )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

2Little Fishies,
Thank you so much for the detailed information and photographs about your door design. Since we are facing exactly the same dilemma, we may borrow some of your design elements. I hope you'll regard it as sincere flattery. They work so beautifully in your space!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I hope you haven't answered this already ... can you tell me how wide the rails and stiles on your cabinets are?

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

No, I haven't, wi-sailorgirl. The stiles are 1 1/2" and the rails are 2". This is something I never thought of before ordering the cabs. I wouldn't mind if they were a bit smaller though. Being we didn't do a bead I thought the stiles could have been less than 1 1/2" and get a bit more drawer room... Maybe this is standard though. I don't know.

sandn- Of course! : )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

If you have already answered this question I apologize for asking again but there are so many posts I can't go through them all. I love the little spice containers you have. I have seen a few GWer's use them but can't find a thread where it is mentioned where people have been getting them. Could you share the source? Did they come with labels or did you make them yourself?

Thanks!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Hi p.ball2- The containers were recommended by breezy. Here they are from Specialty Bottle. We have the 4 oz ones:
http://www.specialtybottle.com/cleartoptincontainersmi.aspx

I did chalk labels from Etsy and bought a chalk ink marker. I loved making them & b/c they are chalk you can wipe them off if you need to. : ) I was going to buy a label maker but thought these were easier & cuter!

RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

What size is the cabinet in which your Kohler Whitehaven sink resides? Did you get a metal grid for it? I am planning on getting the same sink, but am wondering if the 30" would be adequate.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Absolutely amazing! I'm in awe. Congrats!!!!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad you like it.

quiltgirl- The sink cabinet measures 40" and we have the 36" sink. I love it. Keep in mind the interior measurement of the sink is 31" and it really doesn't seem overly huge.

We didn't get a grid. I just didn't want something else to deal with around the sink. So far no issues. The Kohler Cast Iron Sink Cleaner I got from Amazon takes any gray marks out easily with a sponge. LOVE this sink!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Quilt girl: I have the kohler whitehaven 30". The cabinet is 36" and I could have done a smaller cabinet but did not. The interior measurement is 26". I love the sink but would get the 36" if I had a do over. Not sure if you can get away with a 30" cabinet and 30" sink. Might need to go with a 32"?
You would need to really look at installation guide which you can view on-line. The nice part about having a bigger sink cabinet as compared to the sink size is that i still have storage space after all the under cabinet stuff has been installed ( garage disposal, instant hot, sink hook up, water filter).

Another question for you 2LF! Is your marble honed or polished? Sorry if I missed that somewhere.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Truly amazing transformation! It is just stunning. Makes you want to grab that cup of coffee (which you don't drink-LOL) and just hang out! Bet some amazing cooking can take place there as well!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

amandaspot- Our marble is honed. I think that's the best way to go with marble in a kitchen!

sbp59- Thanks! : )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Your new kitchen is just beautiful. I love all the decorative details that fit so perfectly! Enjoy.

Your new kitchen is just beautiful. I love all the decorative details that fit so perfectly! Enjoy.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Can you tell me how your cabinets are constructed - plywood or melamine - and your reasons for your choice? I'm having such a hard time deciding between the two.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I would say that your kitchen is a Masterpiece! It seems every detail was addressed and all of the issues discussed on this forum were incorporated perfectly! Congratulations! What a fabulous accomplishment!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Wow, absolutely beautiful! What brand/model hood did you use? We are planning to have a similar style.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

repac & sanguangirl- Thank you!

meek- They are plywood. That is what our cabinet maker uses. There was never an option for me.

brooksms- The hood or the insert? The hood was custom made by our cabinet maker. The insert is a Broan RMIP33.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Thanks for sharing! Your kitchen is beautiful. I love everything. I am looking forward to seeing your banquet. We are going to be building one too. I just love the Visual comfort light!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Fishies - I just returned from a 3 week consulting trip and could not wait to see your reveal. I was working long days and limited access to the internet (OK - I could have missed another couple hours of sleep but was running on 3-6 hours and just needed to crash when I got back to the room)

OMGosh - it is beautiful and functional.
I am in love with your kitchen.
I even noticed how you did your pot storage (similar to mine but nicer wood dividers), your toaster, and the lighting!
Everything is awesome!
I can't say enough about your reveal!!!! I have to find part 1!

When I had dinner with my DM one night - I saw some lights that were similar to yours and mentioned to DM that you would like the lights!!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

a2gemini- I was wondering where you've been! : )
Thank you SO much! I'm very happy with everything. My photos appeared larger but now with this new format that are quite small.
Glad you're back!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Yup - I was working 12.5 hour nights for the past few weeks - never worked a night before in my life and last time I pulled an all-nighter was in college.
So- I pretended I flew to China and just had to adjust to 12 hours difference - and pretended it was daytime when it was night time.
Still didn't find your first post - but I will hunt it down!

Your kitchen is FUNtastic!!! You must be so pleased! Some day, I hope to see it IRL - in real life!

I am sure I missed others - so hopefully, they will pop for me to find.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

The first post is linked at the top of this one (end of 1st paragraph). It's the exact same thing as this one- except for people's comments....

Hope you recovered from your "jet lag" lol

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I have yet another question about your cabinets. I love the plug mounted under the cabinet but both my cabinet guy and electrician are giving me a hard time about it, although I'm not sure why. My guess is that neither have actually done it.

Was this an issue for you (either with codes or contractors) and who did you actually have do the legwork (cabinetmaker or electrician). Did you have to use a shallower box under there so that it didn't hang down past the light rail trim?

I'd love to go to my guys and say FIRMLY "This is what I want done and here's how you do it......"

P.S. Do you actually like the plug mounted that way? Is it inconvenient or no bother?

Thanks so much!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

stacy- Hi! No issue with code nor with contractors. The electrician did it willingly and I wasn't charged extra for it. The cab maker really had nothing to do with it that I am aware of anyway.

I think it's great! Hasn't been an issue at all! I didn't want outlets in the backsplash. Some people prefer regular outlets but it's a personal decision. The only thing is that the wire hanging when plugged in is more noticeable. However, we only have a toaster plugged in (black wire) and when company comes I often unplug it. : )

At first I thought I was getting angled plug mold but decided this was fine. Here is a discussion on it-- You may get more info here:
http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg1110184414056.html?31138

Good luck!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

No, I don't want plugs in my backsplash, either!

I took your pic and showed it to the electrician and he finally understood what I was talking about and said it was no problem.....yay!! Cabinet maker thought it would be inconveniencing, but I'd rather have that than the plugs in the backsplash.

One last question (hopefully!).....how far does your light rail trim extend down? I'm thinking the original style I chose (just a rounded bullnose) will not come down enough to disguise the outlets. I'll need to advise my cabinetmaker.

Again, thanks so much!! Your kitchen is stunning and I enjoy going back and reading your process because I'm already having angsts and seeing your kitchen gives me hope that mine will turn out beautiful as well :)

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Beautiful kitchen!!!

Sorry, if you already answered this, but can you tell me how deep your island overhang is? We are limited a little on space and are deciding between 12" or 14". I love the saddle stools...that's what I was thinking for our space as well.

Thanks in advance!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

rkb21- Our overhang is 15" on the 2 sides with seating. I wouldn't go less than 14" even though I know people have less & don't seem to mind.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Fishies
I posted a picture of your sink window and a link to this thread on barrelrider's thread.
I hope this is OK.
If not, I will edit my post to remove it. Let me know if I should.
Sandra

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Fishies your kitchen is absolutely beautiful, all your hard work paid off. I have a question about your hood insert. I am also considering getting the BR-RMIP33. How is it working out for you? Is it quite? Did you also get the optional liner or did your contractor just build the hood around the insert without the liner. Did you get an internal motor? and if so did you choose the P5 or P8. Any insite you can give me on this would be great. Hope you are enjoying your kitchen.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Oh my. What a beautiful kitchen. It looks like a happy place :)

Also, I LOVE the cover for your KA stand mixer. It brings back memories of my grandmother.

Susan

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Fabulous transformation! What a happy, pretty, functional space. Makes me smile to just to look at these pictures :-) The Kitchenaid cover is adorable - where did you find it?

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Bellsmom- No problem : )

rikerk- We did get the optional liner as our cab maker told us to and used those specs when building the hood I believe. It isn't that quiet. However, I think the level of quiet has a lot to do with how it is vented. I don't know. I have nothing to compare it to but when it's on low it is very obvious it is on and I look forward to turning it off. I am happy with it but I just don't think it's quiet. We have the P8 blower.

spagano & dusty- Glad you like the KitchenAid cover. It is a fabric I found many months ago (I have a lot of it). I thought I'd use it for other things but haven't yet. Anyway I had a woman who sells KA covers on eBay make it for me. : )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Our new toe kick panel under the dishwasher : ) Much better!!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

That's so cool! Is it attached in a way that you can pull the dishwasher out?

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

The cab maker put 2 little wood blocks and then the toe kick is attached with velcro. I got the idea here of course!

So, yes the dw can be removed or repaired if necessary.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Really amazing job and so many things to love.

I saw your earlier posts when you were trying to figure out how to get a stacked cabinet look w/in you 8' ceilings-- mission accomplished!

Would you mind detailing the dimentions? Looks like 4" or 6" crown, 36" with the upper 2" mullion dividing 1/3 rd of the cabinet, 18" or 20" above the counter???

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Hi again 2LF- I'm still in love with your kitchen!
I am considering a very similiar paint palette as yours and wanted to get some feedback from you about how the woodlawn blue, putnam ivory and elephant tusk work together. I read that the photos make the colors appear differently than in RL so let me know. Which direction does your living room face and does it get a lot of light? Also how does putnam ivory compare to elephant tusk? Is p.i. very creamy or more beige?
Thanks for your help!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

zeitgast- the crown is 4 5/8", the cab is measuring 39 1/4" plus the light rail, and the backsplash is 18" in the baking area and 17" in the L sections.

Laura- The LR faces North East. The picture looks more blue than IRL. The Kitchen and DR faces South East. Putnam Ivory is definitely more beige than the Elephant Tusk. It's also more saturated. I originally had Pittsfield Buff in the LR (for a day) and that was more gold. Elephant Tusk is beige here with a gold undertone. What's interesting is that I didn't want more yellow in the kitchen but chose from several BM beiges next to my Barley cabs so I chose one with a gold undertone. Anyway, when they first painted it in an empty room and next to the blue it read very yellow to me and I thought I messed up. However once the yellow cabs went in they sucked any yellow out of the Elephant Tusk and it went back to looking beige : )

If I were you I would order the 8x8 or 5x9 inch swatches from BM or paint the colors on poster boards. The small swatches are impossible! Good luck!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

2LittleFishies, I missed your initial reveal but have gone through the resulting threads several times - with all of the (totally well-deserved) praise you've received, I don't think there could possibly be an original way to say it, but Congratulations!!! Your kitchen just shines with all of the thought and intelligent design decisions you put into it - I'm sure that many of your old issue-specific threads will become go-to searches for people (like me!) trying to work through the overwhelming number of choices to be made in designing our kitchens. It seems to me that your process perfectly demonstrates the value of this forum, the generosity of its members, and the amazing results that can be achieved. Please stay around and continue to share your vast experience and great eye!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Such a great kitchen! I'm stealing a lot of your ideas! I love it!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Hello! I just love your kitchen and it's inspired a lot of neat idea's in my own kitchen. Thank you!!!!

One quick question. What are the dimensions of your little office nook that's enclosed? I'm doing something similar. Yours looks like the perfect size and I was curious how deep your lower cabinet is there and how deep those uppers are. I love how it encloses!!!
Thanks!
Lisa

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

2littlefishies, I have looked at latches, but the spacing on them seems farther apart that I expected. On the few that you have what is the gap between the 2 parts? I like the idea for a few cabinets, but not sure it is doable on the doors I have chosen!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Those are some really sexy cabinets! Very nice!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

lalalisa- I just saw this! It's 50" wide and the lowers are 24" deep and the uppers are 18" deep.

ali80ca- I'm not sure what you mean, but mine are right up against each other. You don't see any of the white cabinetry between each section of the latch. HTH

JGBG, mum, & Kent- Thanks : )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Absolutely beautiful! Who is your cabinet maker? Where is he located. I am in central NJ.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

VinPat- Gilreath Cabinetry in Harrisburg, PA. (I'm in NJ too)
Thanks so much : )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Your kitchen is AMAZING! I am in awe of how wonderful everything is--the style, the color, the island. Everything! And the little dish with the Mama bird and the 2 babies----I think that is my favorite thing. (it's the little things, ya know)
I have total window envy. Didn't even occur to me to change our window size ;(
Then again, our view is to our neighbor's easy yard....

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I LOVE your kitchen!! We are starting our build next week, and the layout seems to be similar. Do you mind telling me the dimensions of your kitchen and eating area?

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

1littleladybug- The whole space along the back is 28 1/2 feet.

The kitchen side is about 16 feet by 16 1/2 feet. And the DR side is 12 1/2 feet and 16 1/2 feet.

Have a great day!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Could your kitchen be any more gorgeous? I simply don't see how. Beautifully done, bravo!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I just updated the above pics to include the finished banquette and some exterior photos... Thanks everyone
: )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Gorgeous kitchen - my daughter was into American Girl dolls and this reminds me of Kit and her kitchen.

An aside - how do you like your dishwasher? I am ordering the exact same one and was wondering how quiet it is and how well it dries. I hate my current DW since there is a ton of water left in the tub which leads to black gunk inside the rubber edge. Yuck.

Amazing! Makes me want to reorder my cabinets!!! Silly question but, what size glass knobs did you get? I am looking at the same knobs. Thanks, Adrienne

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Wow - I can't add to anyone else's compliments, but wanted to gush as well. It's a beautiful kitchen! Congrats! You'll enjoy it for many years to come!

I've recently requested on this site for ideas on my kitchen and your banquette seating really had me doing double takes!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Hi Fishies, I am meeting with my cabinet person tomorrow for what I hope will the last meeting before the work can begin. I am using your paper towel space as a model for mine, and I have purchased the same actual holder that you are using (and thanks for providing the info!). Could you tell me what the internal measurements of your paper towel space are? I want to make sure I have enough clearance in height and width without wasting space by having TOO much! Thanks! Ott2

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

addycal75- They are 1 1/4"

hmgbrd5- Thanks so much!

Ott2- The paper towel opening is 15" wide x 5" high.... however the inside of the space is 5 3/4" high...
We have to use standard paper towel rolls as the super big ones (like at Costco) are too big to fit inside.
Here's a thread on the holder you probably have seen already but in case others need it : ) Good luck!

Here is a link that might be useful: PAPER TOWEL THREAD

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I've seen this thread for months but always put off looking for time reasons.
The kitchen is so, so beautiful, and so right for your cape cod too! Great work!
If I could steal one idea it would be the counter depth window bump out. Just love that.
Your handles are just the look I am going for -- very similar to the ones I bought, although mine are no longer made in a polished finished which I really wanted. Maybe it is not too late to change!
Your yellow is absolutely scrumptious!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Love your kitchen!! I am going with BM Marscapone for my new cabinets too. Are your trim and ceiling also Marscapone or did you use a different white for those? Im struggling with my trim and ceiling color now that my kitchen will be a creamy white (formerly maple cabinets with antique white trim, ceiling).

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

kjheck- Thanks~ My trim is also Mascarpone but I think my ceiling is just ceiling white? I'll take a better look in the light but I'm almost positive.

raee- Thanks so much! Get what you love- Don't settle!
: )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I've commented before and asked you questions about your gorgeous kitchen and now I'm back for a couple more questions...

1) How are you liking your fridge? I also got the Elux Icon double ovens and had to get rid of my (pre-kitchen remodel) fridge today because it leaked and warped my brand new hardwood flooring....sob.

Now, I get to pick out a new fridge and am really drawn to the Elux because it will be right next to my ovens :) However, I'm not sure it's even in my budget...sniff, sniff.

2) This may seem silly (especially if there's an easy fix) but, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to adjust the gliding racks in my oven up or down. I'm not even sure they are supposed to be adjustable but I'd sure like to lower the middle rack a level or two...lol....couldn't find any info online or in the manual, either. Have you figured this out?

I guess I could ask the salesman tomorrow when I go fridge shopping..lol

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

This is one of the most beautiful kitchens I have ever seen! It is so inviting and warm, but still bright and fresh. You did an absolutely wonderful job! You might have said this before and I missed it (I'm new around here!) but did you work with a designer or did you do the selection yourself?

Absolutely gorgeous! I'm sticking this one in my "idea book" for when we build our new house! :)

RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

May I ask..... what is the distance between the island counter and cabinetry behind the seating? Thanks!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Stacy- Love the fridge... except the ice part. Here's a link:
http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/appl/msg0117542027036.html
I don't think you CAN adjust the gliding racks.. Can you? It would be nice to though!

catzmeow- Thanks so much.. no designer. Just help from GW. I chose all the finishes.

seosmp- from counter to counter it is 54"

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

2LittleFishies, I love the style of your cabinets, hardware chosen, the island, all the light you have, the new floors, and all the new organization that you have. I love your renovated beautiful kitchen!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

hi 2littlefishies, just wanted to say i LOVE your kitchen. really beautiful and the attention to detail is very evident. wanted to ask about your elux icon- did you consider getting the "trim kit". i noticed they offer it. there is a collar and also louvers to give the look of a built in. thought it would be cool but wanted to see if others considered it and chose against it. thanks!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

AGK2003- Thank you so much for your kind words! YES- I did consider the trim kit. I actually planned on purchasing it. The only reason we didn't go through with it is that we really wanted a TV in the kitchen and above the fridge was the best/only option. The trim kit would have taken more space vertically and we would have a hard time fitting a TV there. So, we went without it... : )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

thanks for responding so quickly! good to know you considered it and were going to do it. did you see it installed anywhere? i fear the final result without first seeing it lol.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

2littlefishies, i have another question for you- how do you like the induction? did you work on induction prior to your kitchen remodel? what made you go that way? we are considering scrapping the AG range and going with induction and double ovens.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

2LittleFishies, your kitchen is truly lovely.

Would you be so kind as to share information about the rounded corners on the ends of the face frames on your cabinet runs? Those are beautiful and unusual. Was there a particular reason you did not continue the rounded corner to the tops and bottoms next to the moldings?

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

The kitchen details are just wonderful. Going to bookmark it. :)

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

My dream kitchen! Wow, just wow. I'm speechless. It's just *everything* I could wish for. Enjoy it, and I'll continue to oogle it.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I think your kitchen is fantastic. Great attention to detail. Congrats! I am considering the Woodmere faucet. How do you like it? Did you ever have a pulldown faucet before this one? How do you feel about having the large one on the big sink and the smaller one on the prep sink? I am thinking about doing that too, but wonder if the difference in the sprayer will bug me. I use both sinks to rinse dishes, etc. Thanks for any input.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

So very beautiful!!!!

Each and every detail is just magnificent. I could never make all those decisions! lol

Love the baking area and drawers to organize bakeware and dishes. Love the fabric on the bench and the three bird prints. The small little touches such as the dish with the three birds also just perfect. It is all just perfect! Love it all and can't stop scrolling through. Congratulations and you are so lucky to have a home so beautiful. Thanks for sharing and even that was done perfectly!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

kelleg- Thanks, We love the Woodmere faucets. No issues at all. We had an old pulldown in our former kitchen. I can't imagine NOT having a pulldown. It's SO convenient! Also having one at each sink is great. The prep faucet you just have to hold down the sprayer button. It doesn't bother me at all : )

tinker- Thanks for your kind words! I do indeed feel very lucky. Along the way, I kept thinking-- is this ACTUALLY going to happen the way I want it to?!? Thanks again : )

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Just a wonderful kitchen--and congratulations to your cabinetmakers--such wonderful finishes on every detail. I love, love, this color. Brilliant!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Everything is beautiful!!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

2LittleFishies, Can you tell me the width of the window behind your sink? I am planning a similar window. My side casements are 20.5" and the stationary center panel is 31.5" for a total finished opening of 72.75". Your kitchen is beautiful!
Thanks much for all the great detail.

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Hello,
The total width is 6' and 5 3/16"
The center window is 2' 11 15/16"
Side windows are 20 1/2"

Fishies!

 o
RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

Thanks you for getting back to me so quickly. This gives me a very good idea of what my windows will look like.

RE: 2LittleFishies Yellow Kitchen Reveal- Part DEUX!!!

I ' M D O N E ! ! !

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to add to this thread to say I am finally FINISHED!!! Here is the new custom table to finish the banquette bench. The top came unfinished walnut and I finished it with 6 coats of Waterlox Original. I have the satin on our island and counters but used Original here because 1) it's easier to apply and 2) it is able to be retouched in spots and Satin is not. It may be a little more gloss than I'd like but I know it will lose some of that with regular use. It still has to cure for about 30 days.

The chairs are Kincaid Keswick Side Chairs. The table is 60 x 72. The white is a match to our BM Mascarpone cabinetry.

****I was going to have our upholsterer recover the chairs with the vinyl we have on banquette seat, but since the fabric that came standard on the chairs matches the bench fabric fairly well I am going to keep them as is until they wear out : )

This is the banquette back fabric on top of the Keswick Chair seat.
