Space between crown molding and doors on cabinets to ceiling

I'm having custom cabinets made. The plan is to have the cabinets going all the way to the ceiling. The cabinet people are saying that we need to leave some space between the top of the door and the bottom of where the crown molding should hit so that there is some adjustment room in case the ceiling isn't straight. They have made some samples to show me how that would be but the gap seems odd...

How is that supposed to look?
