VERY well done indeed!! Excellent choices!

Looks wonderful -- and both of the kids have their own way to store their very own "stuff."

    Always important!

They look great, too! Do the kids like it? I'm having a hard time finding something my kids will actually use.

Great job, Kelly - and yet another one of your rooms with those beautiful roman shades!! I love organization and little kiddos have so much stuff!!
I made the romans for my bathroom this weekend. I just couldn't get them to fold right, so took them down and put dowel rods through. They work much better now. I don't know if it was the fabric, or maybe the way we had it strung. I bought a cord lock and the directions say to string all the cords through together - then I found something online that said to put each through one of the slots. I am almost thinking of taking out the one I did at the top as like your shades are, mine will probably never be pulled all the way up. As I see them this morning, with the sun coming through, I can see the top rod and actually the stitching - like little pin holes.
But it was a great learning experience. They are not really that hard, just take a lot of time. Sewing on the rings was tough, as because this shade is so multi-colored, I used invisibile thread. Great thread, except I couldn't see it !!!!! ---- now on to doing the ones for our bedroom.
Your home is so very nice, love it!

Excellent! Nosy question: Is your daughter Korean? (Or maybe your whole family is?) My daughter is adopted from Korea so I noticed the flag right away!

    Thanks Everyone!!

    Sueb20,

Yes, we are an adoptive family. Both my kids were born in Korea and we adopted them when they we 6 (son) and 4 (daughter) months old.

Beautiful job - you should post this on the organizing your home forum too.

I was recently in Korea - what a beautiful country that your children came from. Did you go to Korea to adopt?

My daughter was 4 mos. old too! She is 7 now. (Sky -- my husband went alone to Korea to get her. I had to stay home w/ our other 2 kids. I always say that trip was his "labor and delivery"!)

Wow! The rooms look great! A place for things is so helpful. We're an adoptive family too, with two boys.

I LOVE your roman shades, and I have been wanting to either purchase some or make some (navy blue for one child and red for the other). Would you share where you bought them or if you made them, what pattern you used?

    Great rooms!

    Me next me next!

They both look so neat & tidy - not an easy thing to do with children's toys.

I need something like this for our guest (aka all my niece's) room.

I really love the wall color in both of those rooms.

That look so great! Thanks so much for posting that! Ikea can really do wonders. I spent the past 4 days helping a friend of mine build furniture from there. It was fun!

    Thank you all so much!

    Skypathway,

When we adopted our son we had him escorted and with our daughter we all went to Korea to get her. It was an amazing trip.

    Jan in Wisconsin,

WOW!!!! That must feel great! I have no children but admit to being a big one and a messy one at that. Oh how I wish I could be organized!

    VERY nice rooms too!

I had never heard of "Odessa Pink", it really is a terrific shade. "Wedgewood Grey" is a great color as well.

I think you've reinspired me - I've been back on my organizing bender again :).

I have to add my love for the bins in the girl's room. We have them for my boys and they are WONDERFUL. I put little pictures of the toys that go in each bin - legos, hot wheels, etc. - and they can clean up without any help and have everything in the right place. Now that our house is on the market I found they fit nicely in closets and leave plenty of room to hang little boy clothes. Perfection!

jeannema and sueb20 - I had to jump in - we adopted our son (now age 8) from Korea also :) I love finding other Korea families...

And I love Ikea, too - your rooms look fabulously organized! Well done!

Jeannema, can you tell me more about the storage system in your daughters room? I know it is from Ikea but is there a name for it if I make a stop there? Do you buy the whole system or do you buy what you need. In other words, I love the whole thing but was wondering instead of pink, if they had other colors as well ( I need one of these for a playroom for 2 boys). Thanks!

    Hi Yiannab,

    It's the trofast system.

Kelly!! That is wonderful and SOOO inspirational! I have got to work on the rec. region of our house.

I love those Trofast things. Do they make other color tubs? Where my Ikea catalog???

    Chicoryflower,

I think the tubs come in blue, green, pink, red and white.

Very nice! And I think you've made an investment that will last well beyond the preschool years. I just put in a similar unit as your DS's in my teenaged DS's room. He loves black and larger size is great for all those books, binders and school supplies they get. He has it adjacent to his desk and it's a great also as overflow work space. I still need to get some of the drawers, though.
