I think it's a few decades older that that. Casters pretty much disappeared in the 30s, and the pressed(carved?) back say 20s or thereabouts but that's just a gut hunch.

Any thoughts of value? I'm thinking of putting it in a yard sale and would just like to put a reasonable price on it. If it doesn't sell I will either keep it or Craigslist it.

It has potential to be much older, since platform rockers have been around awhile, and there are many showing up from the last two decades of the nineteenth century. Your's is in respectably good shape, regardless of age and I simply can't tell much more from a picture. It has a delicate air about it, and is quite pleasing and I sort of cringe to think it will be moved in a yard sale. I don't think it would take much at all to restore it to its former glory. To me, it would be a 'keeper' and find its way to a bedroom by a pretty table.

Y'know, Calliope, I just cleaned it all up, got the dust off, trimmed the stray threads, and sat in it. The original attraction for it when I bought it came back - and I think that I am going to keep it, after all.

I don't have a place for it now, but will cover it much better and keep it in better storage for when I do have a spot.
