| We had new cabinets put in a couple years ago.. in our area the golden oak was still really popular. they are very beautiful custom cabinets, but we seriously regret the color, and desperately want them to be darker. From what i understand there is really nothing to do except go through a huge process of sanding, stripping etc...
i want to just sell them and start over. My husband thinks we should just paint the wall a color to tone down the orangey look of the oak. Any suggestions? I saw on HGTV, that they used a rub on product to darken someone's cabinets, but they didn't give enough detail. I can provide photos if it will help |

| gel stain.. do a search over on the kitchen forum. There were several threads about it and one poster (whose name escapes me) who very successfully did it with beautiful results. |
