Having looked at the gallery and the type of chair, I'm guessing that it was made in Asia out of a tropical wood and imported to the U.S. I don't think it's teak. It could be one of the members of the Sorea genus (like "Lauan" or "Philippine mahogany"), or a dozen other furniture woods that are not typically grown in the U.S. Am I correct in assuming that this chair is not particularly heavy (as would be true if it were teak or ipe), and that it was not particularly expensive?
