| I have been refinishing the pine doors in my home. I have stripped, sanded, conditioned and sealed( with a mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits) the doors before applying the stain and then top coats. The doors have come out beautifully, the stain is not splotchy at all... well that is until this door. I just applied the stain and it is splotchy... maybe I should have applied another application of sealer. Is there anything I can do at this point to even out the stain? Thanks, Kelly |

| I had made a pine bookcase in which I applied a pre-stain conditioner and the stain was still blotchy. I had to sand the stain off and it still came out blotchy. Good luck. |

| Some say that leaving the pre-stain conditioner in for a longer time than recommended will help with the blotchiness problem. I am in a similar boat myself and have been asking for recommendations before I start working, but have no experience. |

| A wash coat with shellac is just the ticket you are looking for. In the blotchy case...the best thing to do is to suck it up, sand out and start from scratch. |
