it all depends on their location and what kind of use they'll get. if they're going back where it's damp then use clear varnish or urethane and make sure you cover each side with the same number of coats. (it insures the wood absorbs moisture evenly.) don't cheap out, use a high quality brush. also you'll need to clean off all the oil and wax on the wood. i promise... it's there. the hardware or paint store will carry a wax and oil cleaner. scrub the doors with a stiff nylon brush and wipe it off before it dries. do this several times as wax and oil will cause unspeakable horrors to the finish. oh yeah, lightly sand the doors with 220-280 sand paper and wipe off before putting on the finish.
