yellowing knotty alder cabinets

I have 8 year old natural finished knotty alder cabinets that have significant yellowing. Is there anything I can do short of stripping and restaining to return them to a nicer color. If stripping and restining is the only answer is there an easy way to get the exsisting finish removed. ( I am in the middle of refinishing the bathroom cabinets and was not aware of the amount of work involved until it was too late.)

Most likely, no and no. I don't do much work with alder because I'm in the eastern US, but my guess is that the yellowing is more in the finish than in the wood. If you want a natural look then stain isn't part of the picture; you're just dealing with a film finish that has yellowed. There's probably nothing to do but strip and redo with a non-yellowing finish, and there's no way to make that easy except to pay someone else to do it.
