I have recently bought an old pine door. I have planed and sanded, filled holes with Antique Pine filler and varnished with Antique Pine Varnish. Looks great apart from orange dots and streaks of the filler which does not match the varnish! I have also tried Natural Pine Filler and all I get is white dots and streaks. The door also was filled around the panels which now stand out in orange.

How can I put this right and how should I fill the holes and gaps in my other old pine doors?

As you can guess I am an amateur and would be grateful for any advice.
