 o
stain or paint, maple frames black?

We are having a couple of custom mirror frames made out of maple for our master bath. I will be doing the staining or painting to turn them black. I have couple of questions. What should I be buying, paint or stain? Also what sheen would look best, flat or satin? TIA

RE: stain or paint, maple frames black?

Staining maple black will be very difficult as the grain is very dense and maple also blotches sometimes.

That means the easier route is paint.

To paint, first primer.

If I nwere painting a mirror frame in a bathroom, I would use gloss for the better moisture resistance.
