I've oak wooden floors and I'm looking for a trim which will give a contemporary look. I've no crown moulding, but just baseboard trim. I want a wood finish rather than painted finish. What kind of moulding (shape, thickness, and size) and wood would you suggest? The walls are 8 feet tall. If you have any pics, that will be great.

For the baseboard, I had 1 x 4 popular planed to 1/2 inch thick. The door trim is basic clamshell, which is 11/16 at the wide end. I think these two work nicely together.

Somebody suggested using the same thickness for the doortrim, but I thought it looked too boxy. The clamshell trim is very typically 50's.
