| I've been milling my own lumber, and found these guys crawling around in a Red Oak. They seemed to be mainly in the bark and sapwood. They make holes that are the size of pinholes and there are little mounds of dust piled next to the holes.
Are they termites or some other bug? I always thought termites were all white or white with a brown head. These are all brown. |

| And another video. I shot these videos through a magnifying glass. You can see the "hairs" on the wood, so you have an idea of how small the bugs are. I'd say they are probably 3mm long or so. |

| Look up dry wood termites and subterranean termites. There are tons of pics. The ones you have do not look like either. They could be wood boring beetles though. |
