Question about custom cabinet pricing

Posted by newyorking (My Page) on

I received a pricing estimate for custom cabinets and am wondering if its comparable. My kitchen is open to the living room, and below are dimensions:
Main area: 126" x 30"
Island: 115" x 36"

The interior wood is maple natural and exterior door wood is African Mahogany, all veneer. I am not staining it. Doors are flat, and there is no external hardware. The drawers will have Blum full extension soft close undermount Tandem slides, and cabinets will most likely be Blum soft close with tip-on. The cabinet maker is quoting a price of $38K which includes the Blum hardware. This is a lot, and I am wondering what to do and whether this is comparable. I really like African Mahogany with my granite selection, and will have that in my bathrooms as well. No semi-custom cabinets use that wood. Any opinions on the price? FYI I am in Manhattan (so the price maybe comparable...)

You might get more responses if you post this in the Kitchens forum.

Also, I don't think "comparable" means what you think it means.

RE: Question about custom cabinet pricing

Thanks, I posted it in the Kitchens forum and replaced comparable with competitive.
