Trying to create a contrast to red mahogany

We've just done our floors (Northern Red Pine) in Winmax Red Mahogany. The result is a lovely warm brown. But we're having trouble trying to find a stain to use on the kitchen cabinets and bench, same wood. We tried Golden Oak and it looked too yellow/green next to the red mahogany.

I suggested my husband try mixing 1 part red chestnut with 4 parts pickled oak but the result came out as a weird pinkish wash, definitely looks milky. Is pickled oak opaque?

Provincial looks like it might be a good match but I think it's too dark. Is there a way to lighten a stain?

Or if you can figure out what it is I'm looking for, that would be even better ;)
