| I purchased these chairs at a yard sale this weekend. I removed the broken cane seats and am in the process of removing layers of old finish. I think I'd rather put fabric seats on them instead of recaning but am not exactly sure how to go about it. Does anyone have experience with making a new seat and can you give me some helpful hints? Thanks |

| The quickest way is to cut a piece of plywood (3/8 works well) to size, then apply padding (foam and/or cotton batting) and then fabric. The fabric is pulled snug and stapled on the bottom of the plywood. Some carefully selected screws that do not penetrate the plywood are used to fasten the seat in place from the bottom of the seat frame. |
