How to strip drawer of painted spool chest?

I have an antique spool chest that was totally covered with dark green paint. Can anyone tell me the best way to take the paint off the drawer fronts without removing the painted-on labeling? ( different drawers say Clark's, ONT, etc.) Also the drawer pulls are metal but can't be taken off to be cleaned. :( TIA

Take it to an art conservator and pay big bucks to have it done for you. In other words, it's probably not going to happen.

Another option is akin to "Kill 'em all, let God sort them out."

See the link for replacement decals.
