putting reinforcing braces under antique table

How big a deal is it to add reinforcing braces to anchor the legs and side pieces of a very large antique table? The dowels that kept the legs in place have come loose.

Not a big deal as in a friend seeing it afterwards and exclaiming OH MY GOSH !!!!
From a time,material and skill standpoint in furnitue repair, not a big deal.

Photos? Some fixes are easier than others; some configurations need different solution than others.

The dowels that kept the legs in place have come loose.

It's easier to completely remove the dowels, clean out the holes and re-glue them in the holes.

The problem with add-on (versus designed-in_ braces is that they tend to s[plit the wood anbd pull out, leaving you with a wobbly table with splits and holes.

Is this table over100 years old? What type of table? If it is a true antique, what you are suggesting would ruin the value of the table if it is a true antique and its original composition.
