Yep, it's wood.

With "tropical woods" it's often quite difficult to ID the wood species. While a walk in an acre forest in temperate climates might yield a few up to a dozen species, the same walk in a tropical rain forest might yield a couple of orders of magnitude more, and any individual species might not have another of the same species for a mile or more.

Seems we are struggling as well.

If there is a stain/dye/colored finish on that piece, that increases the difficulty.

Knowing where it was made helps some, but like Bob's nephew said:
