Howdy! Back with another "will it stick?" question. I have a canoe with hardwood gunwales that were treated at the factory with an oil finish. According to the manufacturer's instructions, it should have additional finishing, either more of the oil finish or something more durable like a spar urethane.

Will a waterbased polyurethane stick to an oil finish without stripping? Or should I Just go with a nice exterior oil finish? The boat is stored indoors so it won't get a ton of UV exposure. Water resistance is of course a plus. :)

Any recommendations on what to use?
