Best Low Odor Wood Filler for Trim?

When we moved into our fixer upper home almost 2 years ago, our infant son's lead level skyrocketed. As a result, we moved out and had all the trim and moulding stripped of lead paint. From the stripping process, all of the trim in our home has a lot of gouges, dents, and grain raise. What is the best low-odor product to fill these prior to repainting?

I have tried 2 different types of epoxy fillers, plastic wood, and a handful of other fillers. The epoxy fillers worked great, but smelled terrible. Since we have to do ALL the trim in the whole house and have 2 small children, it needs to not smell terrible. Sanding the surface down a lot isn't an option for us, as we don't want to release any lingering lead dust that may have gotten deep in nooks and crannies. Thanks!
