How to finish outdoor knotty pine porch ceiling?

We recently added on an open porch. The ceiling is tongue and groove knotty pine. It is currently untreated. We love the look of the natural pine finish, but are concerned about protecting the wood against insects. Had a carpenter bee try its luck last year... we successfully discouraged it!
We do not want to paint the ceiling. Considering Cabot's Australian Timber Oil which we used on the new deck. Is that a good option? Any other thoughts or suggestions? Much appreciated!!

Actually, the best long term no/little maintenance protection is paint.

#4(or#5 with Olympic---as I recall) deep tint base used straight from the can(nothing added) dries clear. You will see the wood as if there was nothing on it.
