concealed hinge for beveled cabinet doors

We're in the process of having our kitchen cabinets painted and also hired a contractor to install concealed hinges on our doors. The contractor says he cannot find concealed hinges that will fit our cabinet doors because the doors have a beveled edge, making the edge a tad too thin for standard concealed hinges. He is currently trying to apply the hinge by inserting a small piece of wood in between the door and hinge to give the hinge enough space to attach to.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing? Can anyone recommend concealed hinges that are less deep than the standard size that might work?
