sticky finish on danish modern

Last fall I acquired a gorgeous mid-century modern dining set stamped as made in Denmark. I believe the table is teak; it has a matte finish with no visible depth, which I assume is the teak oil finish in common use on these older pieces. Although the table top feels fine to the touch, it's proved extremely prone to sticking to things: a cork mat left on the table in fairly dry winter weather adhered so tightly it broke apart when lifted, leaving cork crumbs that had to be scraped off. A plastic bread bag sitting on the table in more humid weather stuck tightly enough to transfer colour and do some damage to the finish etc. We're afraid to use a tablecloth on the piece because if it sits for a couple of days it may never come off! Any thoughts?
