How to take apart a hutch

Hi woodworkers. I bought a beautiful Thomasville hutch to make into a standing desk. I'm having trouble taking the hutch top off of the bottom. I plan to hang the top on the wall and extend a keyboard shelf, but the piece is so well made I can't figure out how the top is attached to the bottom. I am banging around on it, have located some screws but they don't seem long enough to be the things holding the two halves together. I suspect there are screws underneath a thinner "floor" board in the bottom of the hutch top which go through a thicker hutch floor and then through the substantial wood top of the hutch bottom. But I can't get the trim off the lower back which obscures the hutch "floor"... I don't want to get the Sawsall out just yet. Anybody ever done this before?
