Miniwax Helmsman Spar Urethane to finish pine stairs?
| | |

| Hi - I'm doing a DIY project, to stain/varnish pine stairs built by a carpenter earlier this year.
I've already put two coats of stain on and it looks nice. The carpenter told me to use Miniwax Helmsman Spar Urethane to finish it, but I noticed on the back it says not recommended for floors. I am not sure why he said to use this one specifically.
Should I use the Miniwax Super Fast-drying polyurethane for floors instead, as the instructions say on the back? Or stick with the Spar Urethane?
Any advice is appreciated! I can't get a hold of the carpenter and I'd really like to finish this asap. |

| Phew! I just got a hold of the carpenter and good thing I asked! He said it was the wrong type - I should go with the poly for floors, not the spar. Wow, so glad I only did a test patch 1st. |

| I used MinWax Floor Polyurethane(get it at Sherwin Williams stores to be certain of freshness) on my entire house hardwood floors. Good stuff. |
