My son was playing swords with a broom and popped a hole in a wood stained hollow cabinet door. Any ideas on a reasonable patch?

it is a hollow frame cabinet/pantry door with w stained veneer.

A do-it-yourself version? Probably not. See if you can find a matching door replacement.

Here's what I did for a hole in a hollow core door. I filled it with oil based wood putty and woodburned a design in it. It was a roundish hole, quite large, and made it into a sun with a face woodburned in it. Stained it and varnished the door. Looked very interesting.
