questions about mdf and ldf

Hi,

I am doing some research and need some MDF slab. I need some sheets of uncommon sizes such as 2.25"*5'*5' (both regular and light weight) 3"*5'*5', 2.5"*5'*5', 2"*5'*5'. I would like to where I can get these slabs. I have contact five or six companies, but these slabs were not available.

I can't say I've seen MDF in thicknesses anywhere approaching 2+". My gut reaction is that you'd have to go to the manufacturer and perhaps have a special run made. That assumes there's not some technical limitation. The pieces would be pretty heavy too. At least with MDF, the smallest piece you listed would weigh around 200 lbs.

You can cut standard sized MDF to rough dimensions (a little over needed width/length) and then glue the pieces face to face, ideally with a vacuum press but clamps and cauls will also work. After you have glued up to the thickness you want you can trim them to finished size.
