Hardie board siding-can you attach plant hangers, etc?

I have to replace a 32 year-old section of T-111 plywood siding due to termite and rot damage.

I has been on the south side of the garage, which faces the small yard of my townhouse. The siding gets water on it more than rain alone because I have a garden right there and about once or twice a week, I'll turn on a small rotary type of sprinkler.

I am considering replacing the T-111 with a similar looking Hardie Plank product. But I have a couple questions:

-Will I be able to attach pots and plant hangers to it like I can with the T-111? Do you need special drill bits? Is it brittle and could doing this cause it to break?

-Will it look good at least as long as my siding has lasted? (32 years isn't bad, considering my watering!)

Thank you for any help you can give me!
