You think mixing finishes is OK?

I'm wanting to redo the my half bath. It's just down the hall from my kitchen. The kitchen has golden oak cabinets that are in decent condition. The bathroom cabinets are looking fairly dingy, and I'd like to refinish them. But I really don't want to refinish them in that same color of oak.

Would it be strange to refinish the bathroom cabinets in a much darker stain...or maybe even paint them white? What do others think about having two very different stains in close proximity?

No reason why you can't stain or paint it the color you want, they are two distinct rooms. Even in kitchens you can have different color cabinets.

The color police all have been laid off.
