Attention Please! Wood Characteristic Changes

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question.

I have a 22 year old colonial in a densly wood area in central Massachusetts. About 3 years ago we had the old roof removed and new shingles installed. The roof pitch is 10/12 with a vented drip edge. The original ridge vent was made of metal. When the house was re-roofed the roofer used the plastic mesh style ridge vent and I added gutter helmets to stop leaves from clogging the gutters.

About 2 years later I noticed the rafters and joist started to randomly patina to the color of an early american woodstain. You can actually see the hand print were the lumber was handled and the footprint of a shoe were someone walked on the boards. Has anyone else ever seen this or know what is causing the change in color?

Thanks
