How to keep water damage off my sofa table

I purchased a sofa table from Garden Ridge. So it's nothing too expensive but I have no idea what it's made of. I do know it's made in Thailand.
I am putting plants on this table. Though my plants have a saucer, I mist my plants daily.
What can you recommend I put to keep it safe from the misting and possible water that might flow on the table?
Can I use a sealant? Any advice would be helpful.
