| Am about to accept a proposal for cabs for new house. Local custom cabinet man who does beautiful woodwork bid cab boxes of 3/4 melamine as well as drawers constructed of 3/4 melamine with drawers dadoed and glued.
Seems the melamine for drawers would be acceptable for cleaning ease. However, should I be concerned regarding the construction quality of the cabinet boxes?

| I would have the opposite concerns. Melamine cabinet boxes are fine -- dimensionally stable and easy to clean. Melamine (which means melamine-coated particle board) drawers would be a definite no-go for me, as the material is too fragile to tolerate the inevitable stresses drawers must endure. |
