Zebrawood cabinets

This past winter I did some radiant slab heating and boiler work for a friend of mine who builds cabinets on the side.
Drew these up and had him build these for our master bathroom we are going to remodel. All the interior framework and the drawer interiors are made out of 1/2' maple and the doors and drawer fronts are out of 1' Zebrawood.
The work was beyond our expectations and the detail he added to the drawer top edge out of zebrawood is an added bonus.
Will post finish and install pictures when the bathroom is complete. Going with a granite countertop that is black and dark green that is similar to the Zebrawood look. It is some awesome looking granite from a friend who owns a granite business.

It looks really cool, but that job should've been done in veneer, not solid wood. Unless you unusually tight climate control in your house, I suspect you're going to have significant movement problems with that cabinet.

I have read about the issues with solid zebrawood. We have a constant humidity of 50% in our home and use a HRV system that continues to bring fresh air through the house every 30 minutes.
Wanted to see how solid wood perform as we do not like the look of most veeners and being in Alaska it is hard to examine the pieces in person as some veneers are not appealing and a lot of them are engineered (not even real).
Worse case is replacement of fronts which does not bother us and that is the chance we will take.

If your household humidity is that tightly regulated then you shouldn't have a problem unless the wood was too wet to start with. The most likely issue would be splitting of the drawer fronts; hopefully they're attached in such a way as to allow a bit of horizontal movement.

Good luck with it.
