Fixing a drawer face, old vanity

I just got this vanity/mirror. It's overall (besides the obvious) in good structural shape, well beside the left drawer.

The drawer works fine as is, and It might be ok, to leave it. I wont be trying to restore it to a "new" look, so it might just add character (or not?) I realize this will be a big deal for some and not so much for others.

But to fix it, if I were to go this route? something I might try myself?

camera left side, lower section is missing! I'll take a better picture, since I now have it in my possession. It is hard to see, it almost looks dirty, but it's missing.

If you wanted to restore it with the routed-in detail, it's gonna be pretty hard unless you have a lot of tools and ingenuity. If you were going to paint it, you wouldn't have to worry about wood species, matching the stain color(s) and other details. But the incised lines, accomplished originally with a factory tool called a pin router, is still irksome. Probably could be done almost freehand with a regular router, the right bit (1/8" dia. flute bit?).
