I have some hard maple that has some sap bore holes in it (from maple sugaring). I haven't decided what do with them yet.

I think I will wash on some BLO, let that dry for several days and use blond shellac.

Or lacquer. I will test both first.

After one coat of thinned BLO(still wet. Will let cure and add several coats of blond sellac.

Decided, after experimentation, to use three coats of lacquer instead.

Thanks for the pictures. I like to see what other people are doing. Came out nice. Now all you need to do is fill it with stacks of hundred dollar bills and you're done.

I love boxes. If I thought I could make a living at them, I probably would have. What people don't realize is it takes me nearly as much time to make a small box as it would a larger piece of furniture like a cedar chest.

Maybe I should have targeted the $2000 cigar humidor market?
