I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question or not, but I'm going to give it a shot! I'm looking at a front door on ebay that says it's mahogany. But when I read the details, it's actually meranti. I've learned that meranti is also called Philippine mahogany but isn't a true mahogany at all. It's not as hard and is more brittle. But my question is if, despite this, it still makes for a decent front door material. We don't have a limitless budget, so this meranti is attractive to me, but I don't want to regret it down the road. Have you had any experience with it? Thank you!
