Baseboard into face of casing?

Posted by marshallv (My Page) on

Hi all,
I have a question. We are building a home and there are several spots where the door casing will be butted up in the corner. It looks like the base will have to end or terminate into the face of the casing.

The base is only about 9/16 or 5/8 thick at the thickest and the "flat" part of the colonial trim is about that same measurement.

Is that going to look really odd or is that unusual?

FWIW - we are using 5 1/2 base and 3 1/2 casing.

Thanks
Marshall

Probably will look OK. Have you considered using plinth blocks as part of your design?

Here is a link that might be useful: Plinth definition
