| Does anyone know where we can get any turned legs that are smaller than 3 inches in diameter. I'm looking for something that can be used in an application similar to the one in the link.
Thank you! |
Here is a link that might be useful: Furniture piece with narrow columns

| If banister spindles won't do, try here: http://www.adamswoodproducts.com/ http://www.brownwoodprod.com/ http://www.rockler.com/search_results.cfm?filter=legs&submit.x=0&submi t.y=0 Otherwise, they'll probably have to be custom made by a turner. |

| These are simply made by gluing up a spindle in two halves, with brown paper in between. Then you turn the spindle. After turning, you split the halves apart with the tip of a chisel. The papered glue joint is far less strong than the wood, so they split apart neatly into two pieces that are now perfectly matching half spindles. Apply them to the surface. Starting from whole spindles is harder, since then you need to rip them carefully down the middle. Of course, if you don't have a lathe, or a friend with one, its tricky. In that event, I'd suggest finding a local woodturning group. They are all over, and woodturners are a singularly friendly bunch, often quite willing to lend a hand in these matters. John |
