It's unclear where you want the doors.

If you want them on the bottom level, hiding the file cabinet, you could just hinge it to the outer leg on one side and put a stop on the bedframe.

But that would make it really hard to get into the drawers ... do you want to open the door completely and then pull drawers out? Every time?

Lazygardens, I greatly appreciate your posting the picture and response. I've given the situation more thought. The file cabinets would receive infrequent use, just for storing investment material on one side and household files on the other. If I stay with my original decision to use the nightstand as shown in cherry, I would add the door below as you suggested and have an inset drawer made for the small upper shelf area. Both of these insets would be white to match the cabinet above.
Taking a completely different tactic from the matching night-stand, a white shelf could be hung on the wall beside the bed which would extend between the bed all the way to the corner (24" L x 2.5"w x 18" d). I thought a fabric panel could be hung from the underside of the front edge of the shelf above to hide the files. This would make access easier. For that matter, the fabric panel technique could also be used for the lower portion of the nightstand as well. Would greatly appreciate further thoughts or comments.
