Extra long drawer glides???

We have an odd floor-to-ceiling space at the end of our bathtub. It's 18" wide, and 38" deep.

I could slip an 18" untility cabinet in there and call it good, but we'd like to use all the space.

We could build a base pull-out cabinet, to use as a double laundry hamper, topped with full-extension pull-out drawers all the way up to the standard 84"(?) height.

Do you know any company that sells drawer glides that are longer than 21" inches? I'd love to use at least 32" of the space's depth.

Lee Valley offers their 100# side-mount slides up to 28" long, and 200# slides up to 36" long. The heavier-duty slides are considerably more expensive. I'm sure there are name-brand (such as KV) versions of the same slides.

BUT! Consider that a drawer whose top is above elbow height is awkward to reach into, and one that's above eye level is pretty much useless unless you have stepstool handy. I don't think conventional drawers all the way up will be a very satisfying solution.

Rockler Woodworking has some 36" slides, but they are pricey (about $200). They also have some 28" ones for about $30. Here are all the slides they stock...you'll just have to take a look at the various types to see which ones have the length/price combo you like.
