You might want to post a picture to clarify what we're talking about. What I'm imagining from your use of "solid color stain" is that you're looking for an opaque coating... which is usually called "paint."

I think you are right - I guess it is paint on the legs. Sooo... can I just sand the top lightly (where I used the Danish oil) and then paint? Will it matter if I use Latex or Enamel? Thanks for your advice.

The terms "latex" and "enamel" are used very loosely in the paint industry.

Latex has come to mean water based paint.

Enamel just means premium quality.

For painting walls, I prefer to use 100% acrylic enamel paint, which is water based. Any type of enamel paint will be good for the table.

To ensure the paint sticks to danish oil finish, use BIN primer, or any type of shellac-based seal coat. You can seal the entire table with the shellac before painting it.

If you want to avoid brush marks, use aerosol cans. Sand the surfaces with 150 grit to ensure good adhesion between coats.
