restore finish on maple Cusman Colonial Creation chest of drawers

I can't get an image imbedded so here are links:

As you may see, the finish on this piece is kind of milky and smeared looking in spots. I wiped it down with a bit of water and Murphy's Oil soap with no effect. What methods would be recommended to restore the finish on this? I'd guess the chest was made in the 1940's. Solid maple, very well constructed. Family heirloom.

oops, should be "Cushman" not Cusman. As if that matters, but to be clear.
