Outdoor furniture

What is the recommended finish for something like an Adirondack chair? UV protectant varnish? 100% Tung oil?

I've been using walnut, basswood, cypress. Plan on other woods too.

Interesting article. I believe I will run to the paint store and pick up a can for testing. I am a bit leary on his varnish test. I have used a bit of Interlux Schooner 96 varnish on kayaks and am very happy with it. I have varnished 3 walnut Adirondacks but so far the folks think they are too nice for outdoors. Too bad he knocked the varnish so hard. It makes his story implausible.
