250 VOLT bulbs

One of the joys of being an international airline pilot is to visit the various foreign versions of Home Depot & Lowes.

I picked up a couple 250 VOLT, 100 watt bulbs figuring that the filament has to be #4 rebar.

In an 120V system they burn much dimmer, of course, but at what wattage are they buring>

RE: 250 VOLT bulbs

Well, while the answer is 25 watts, I'm still stuck on whether I'd want to fly with international airline pilot "captianminibar" or not.

I can show you some great places in Tokyo, but please give me the keys to the plane!

"while the answer is 25 watts"

Since power is voltage^2/resistance and you are running at half the voltage, the power is 1/2^2 = 1/4, or 25 Watts
