How would you suggest that a receptacle maker could incorporate duplex receptacles plus the test/reset buttons, all in the space available?
Adding a box or changing to a two gang box would provide the space needed. Or the breaker could be used. Which is the better choice for you?

As pointed out by bus, until the 2014 code there was no reqiurement for GFCI here (kitchens only required the counterTOP receptacles to be protected). 2014 removed the "other than kitchens" from the anything 6' from the sink exception.

As Bus suggests, a double box would be one solution if you want a breaker at the point of use. Otherwise you'll have to put the protection elsewhere (either with a receptacle, blind, or breaker style GFCI).

I would just leave it alone. It's fine.
