Sounds like it is OK as long as you've not exceeded the box fill in the box where all the connections are being made, but that's unlikely provided you didn't use something silly like a handibox.

Note that only unfinished areas of the basement require GFCI by the code (unless they're near a sink).

thanks for your help. I understand the requirement for GFCI, however, I still would like to have the finished part of the basement protected with the GFCI. This worked for me in a previous basement application.

Nothing that prohibits it and in some cases it's a good idea. My finished basement had GFCIs but it also had a pool in that room.
